Reef Report - June 21, 2014

Captain Slate's Scuba Adventures. (formerly Atlantis Dive Center) in North Tavernier

Dive 1 - Pleasure Reef.  Seas 3-4 INCHES, vis. 60-80 feet. Current slight. Depth 25 feet. Water temp 84. Hundreds and hundreds of schooling yellow tail.  Eels and critters.

Dive 2 - Davis Ledge. Seas < 1 foot. Vis 50-60 feet. Some current, depth 25 feet. Swarms of grunt, snapper, goat fish, Jackknife fish, no Lionfish, Rock Beautys, Buddha statue memorial.

Dive 3 - Night dive Davis Ledge. Seas <1 foot, vis. 50-60 feet. Strong surface current, sleeping parrot fish, bioluminescent plankton, octopus, rare red ball anemone. Wow sunset.

News from Key Dives in Islamorada

Tanks are now included in dive fee. Small tanks (60 cubic feet) are available if reserved in advance. If you need equipment rentals please reserve in advance, call dive shop. This makes two of our dive shops now offering tanks included with the dive fee - Rainbow Reef and Key Dives.

Saturday, July 12th: - Experience the warm, crystal waters of this lovely outpost with plenty of colorful tropical fish such as the Queen Angelfish, Midnight Parrotfish, Scrawled Filefish, Trunkfish and Spotted Drums. There are numerous critters and beautiful reefs to explore. Check in at Key Dives at Bud & Mary's Marina at noon.

North Tavernier

Sunday, July 20th: Yes, after 36 years (1978) Capt's Slates has moved to a new location you will love even more at Mile Marker 90.7 in Tavernier. Along with this comes 25 new beautiful dive sites to explore with many morays, schooling tropicals, turtles, and the occasional spotted eagle ray. Check in at the new Capt. Slates in Tavernier at 12:00 p.m..
