Dive with ADA this summer!
Reef Report: August 16th - North Tavernier with Capt. Slates

Dive 1: Pleasure reef, seas 2-3', vis 30', depth 30', water temp. 87 degrees. Sightings include shark, moray eel, schooling Bermuda chub, snapper.

Dive 2 Davis ledge, seas 3-4', vis. 40', depth 50'. Water temp. 87 degrees.  Sightings include eagle ray, schooling creole wrasse, moon jellies, giant barrel sponges.

Important Info for those attending the upcoming Looe Key & Key West Dive Weekend Aug. 22-23


1.  Travel in the lower Keys is SLOW!! No credits or refunds if you miss the boat (unless you purchased insurance). Please allow more travel time than you think you
will need.  

2.  We may offer a night dive if weather conditions are good.  Dive light rentals are limited, bring one if you have it.

3.  Check in time at Key West for the Lost Reef dive center is 7:30 AM at the latest.  Again, if you miss the boat, no credits or refunds (unless you purchased insurance).

4.  Afternoon dives with Lost Reef are possible, if you wish, not included in AM dive fees.

5.  Weather check info for Looe Key will be available Friday Night after 6:00 p.m. via phone message.  Call 305 251 4975.
Anyone who wants to car pool with other ADA members for the Key West weekend on August 22-23 please send your email and phone number to Lon and he will make it available to others who wish to share the ride. Email Lon at

Saturday, August 22nd: experience for yourself the unspoiled natural beauty of reef diving on famous Looe Key National Marine Sanctuary. Shallow reef with towering coral heads and numerous colorful, beautiful tropical fish. Sunday, August 23rd: Experience the one of a kind 522' former military missile tracking ship, sits upright at 140', rising up within 50' of the surface. Wreck dive and nearby reef, $70 includes tanks and weights. This is an advanced dive, ADA criteria apply. Check in at Lost Reef Adventures in Key West at 7:30 a.m.

Key Largo
Conditions are near perfect!

Sunday, August 30th: Choose from a variety of dive sites including Christ of the Abyss statue, the Minnow Caves, the Elbow, Dry Rocks, Shark Reef, Snapper Ledge, and the Benwood shallow wreck - all full of fish and a variety of marine life. Depth 20-30 feet. Check in at Rainbow Reef in at MM100 at 12:00 noon.

Tenneco Towers
Massive oil rig wreck!

Saturday, September 5th: Tenneco Towers was created in 1985 when the Tenneco Oil Company sank five large sections of oil production platforms resting between 110 and 60 feet of water. The entire wreck is covered in soft coral, and visited by large pelagic fish and turtles. Advanced criteria applies. Check in at American Dream at noon.
