Reef Report

August 24th - North Tavernier with Captain Slates Scuba Adventures

Dive 1 - Pickles reef, depth 25', water temp. 87 degrees, visibility 40', no current, seas < 1 foot. Sightings include schooling Bermuda chub, sergeant majors, copper sweepers, CRF baby staghorn coral, (site K1,K2, K3.) and many other staghorn which appeared very healthy.

Dive 2 - South Snapper ledge, depth 25', water temp. 87 degrees, visibility 40', slight current, seas <1 foot. Sightings include nurse shark, turtle, and a cleaner shrimp that apparently found dead skin on my finger and set up shop, picking with its tiny pincers. The pinching sensation was very noticeable.

Saturday, August 30th: - Drift dive over beautiful reefs home to Goliath Groupers, eels, stingrays, nurse sharks and hundreds of other fish. Clear warm water and healthy reefs make this a great choice. Check in at American Dream at 12:00 noon.

Sunday, September 7th: Experience the clear water and abundant marine life of Islamorada, just 4 miles past Tavernier. Here we'll find many colorful tropical fish and other wonderful sea creatures. Meet at Key Dives at Bud & Mary's Marina noon.

South Tavernier + BBQ

Sunday, September 14th: One of the best ADA member bargains is our delicious post-dive barbecues. After a full day of sun, salt water and wonderful diving, what could be better than coming back to the smell of delicious burgers and dogs hot off the grill? This and all the fixings for only $10! Plan to stay for the BBQ after this dive. Check in at Florida Keys Dive Center at 12:00 p.m.

Miami Wreck

Saturday, September 20th: Experience one of a kind wrecks such as jet airliner, M-60 Tanks, freighters, tugs and barges. Most are intact with penetration possible. All are surrounded by clear water and abundant marine life. Advanced criterion applies. Meet at Divers Paradise at 12:00 noon.
