Reef Reports:

September 26th - West Palm with Jim Abernethy Scuba Adventures

Dive 1: The Breakers Dive-a-Rama, seas 2', depth 60', vis. 50', water temp. 85 degrees, slight current. Sightings include giant purple barrel sponges, brilliant orange and red sponges, black coral, cornet fish with florescent blue spots, copper sweepers schooling outside of their cave, massive green moray eel inside the cave, spotted moray, schooling Atlantic spade fish.

Dive 2: The Toy Box, seas 2', depth 60', vis. 20-40', water temp. 85 degrees, slight current. Sightings include schooling spade fish, jacks, pork fish, sergeant majors around a huge coral-encrusted eerie metal barge as dusk was falling.

Join us for our Annual End of Season Event!

When: Saturday, Oct 10, 2015

Who: ADA members, prospective members, family and friends

Where: John U Lloyd State Park, Jetty Pavillion, 6503 N. Ocean Drive, Dania Beach, Florida 33004 1.5 miles north of Sheridan St. on A1A

When: Park opens at 8:00 AM. Meet for beach dive at 9:00 AM,  BBQ at noon

What: MUST BE PRESENT TO WIN RAFFLE PRIZES. MUST RSVP TO WIN PRIZES. Call Jerry at 954 990 9534 to sign up, deadline October 7th for RSVP.

For beach diving, bring all your own gear and a dive flag if you have one. Bring lobster gear as this is a good lobster spot. The reef is about 100 yards off shore.

The pavilion has covered shelter, very nice bathroom, showers, and changing room. We will have the BBQ and raffle, rain or shine, unless a hurricane threatens. BBQ will include burgers, dogs, chicken, extras and all drinks. A small fee is charged to enter the park ($4 for single occupancy vehicles, $6 for 2-8 persons per vehicle), free parking at the pavilion. Non-ADA members and non-family members may attend but will be asked to contribute $10 for the BBQ. They may also dive, but are not part of the ADA dive group and not eligible for prizes.

Also bring your gently used dive gear for the Swap N Shop. Buy sell or trade with your fellow ADA members!

Conditions are still very good!

The water has cooled down a bit to 85 degrees but there's still plenty of great diving left. Make plans to join us now. It's as easy as 1, 2, 3:

Eagle Wreck
A Great Key Largo Wreck!

Sunday, October 4th: Experience the thrill of The Eagle, one of Key Largo's most interesting deep wreck dives. Lying on her side, she is home to green morays, tarpon, barracudas and large Goliath Grouper. Plus enjoy a delicious ADA BBQ afterward! Advanced criterion applies. Check in at Capt. Slates at 12:00 noon.

Satuday, October 10th: Come join your ADA dive buddies for a lovely shore dive off of John U Lloyd State Park in Dania Beach (see above article for details). The reef is only about 100 yards off shore. See coral and plenty of tropical fish. Bring all your gear, tank and dive flag. Check in at John U Lloyd State Park Jetty Pavilion at 9:00 a.m.

Always a beautiful dive!

Sunday, October 11th: Experience the warm, crystal waters of this lovely outpost with plenty of tropical fish, numerous critters and beautiful reefs to explore. Here you will find clear water, abundant marine life and fantastic photo opportunities. Meet at Key Dives at Bud & Mary's Marina at noon.

Excitement and adventure close to home

Saturday, October 17th: Experience one the world's premier wreck diving destinations. Explore these amazing artificial reefs sunk at various levels. Most are intact and covered in soft corals, and teeming with marine life. Advanced criterion applies. Meet at Force E in Pompano at 12:00 noon.

Key Largo
Tanks included on this dive!

Sunday, October 25th: Choose from a variety of dive sites including Christ of the Abyss statue, the Minnow Caves, the Elbow, Snapper Ledge, and the Benwood shallow wreck - all full of fish and a variety of marine life. Depth 20-30 feet. Check in at Rainbow Reef new location at 100 Ocean Drive, just one block east of Overseas Hwy. MM100 at 12:00 noon.
