Sunday, April 11
Season Opener BBQ at Blue Heron Bridge
We had a beautiful, sunny day with a cool breeze (we just missed the rain!) for our
annual BBQ and picnic at the Blue Heron Bridge.
West Side - Seas less than 1', depth 17", water temp 73 degrees, viz 25 ft. Sightings included huge undulating bait
ball of silversides, schooling Atlantic spadefish, super small juvenile drum, lobster, arrow crabs, banded
coral shrimp, cushion sea stars, parrotfish, extra large barracudas. A wonderful way to kick off the dive
season.
East Side - Seas less than 1', depth 22", water temp 75 degrees, viz 30 ft. Sightings include a mother manatee and
her calf, schooling Atlantic spadefish, several free swimming sharp tailed eels, spotted moray eels, octopus,
a giant hermit crab, arrow crabs, banded coral shrimp, cushion sea stars, and lots of parrot fish. Excellent viz,
excellent dive!
