Neptune Memorial Reef with Deco
Divers
It was a hot and beautiful day with
Capt. Ani and Deco Divers with nice
warm water and great viz.
Dive
1: Neptune Memorial Reef. Seas
2-3', viz 40 feet, depth 43, water
temp 83, moderate current. It's
getting time to come out of the wet
suits and the warm water felt
fantastic. This unique dive site is an
underwater columbarium (thank you
Rudy!) which is the largest man-made
coral reef ever conceived housing
cremated remains of the departed in a
unique arrangement of high arches,
temples and lion statues. Hundreds of
memorial plaques are scattered
throughout the site honoring the
deceased in the shape of turtles,
starfish, clamshells and other sea
creatures. This site attracts an
abundance of marine life including
schools of yellowtails and snappers,
large gray angelfish in pairs, tangs,
trunkfish, huge barracudas patrolling
the arches, enormous pufferfish and
large trumpetfish.
Dive
2: RJ's Ledge. Seas
2-3', viz 30 feet, depth 27, water
temp 83, no current. This site has
interesting relief with lots of nooks
and crannies for critters to hide in.
We saw an abundance of schooling
yellowtails, along with lobster,
perfectly intact brain coral,
parrotfish and tangs. It was a great
day of diving!
