Tavernier with Conch Republic

Dive 1: Crocker Reef - this is always a beautiful site with tons of marine life because this is where Capt. Slate does his shark and eel feedings. The weather forecast had predicted 3-4's with occasional 5's but they got it wrong - it turned out to be a beautiful day with 2-3' seas, warm water and excellent viz. Depth 26, viz 40 feet, water temp 86. We saw numerous nurse sharks, free swimming moray eels, channel clinging crabs, and clouds of grunts and yellowtails.

Dive 2: Davis Ledge - Seas 2-3', depth 27, viz 40 feet, water temp 86. We found the resident buddha statue and rubbed its head and belly for good luck. The highlight of this dive was a beautiful green sea turtle who rose up to the surface to breathe, then came back down to greet us. Numerous lobsters were poking out of the ledge along with queen angelfish and a school of large blue parrotfish.

Hearty excellent diver welcome to new members Sam & Jessica Bochenek making their second dive with us, and John Lutkehaus making his first dive.

Spiegel Grove Wreck with Conch Republic

Dive 1: Ball 4 - always a crowd favorite, the Spiegel never disappoints. Conch Republic continues to amaze us with their stellar customer service, waiting 20 minutes for a mid-ship ball to open up so we didn't have to go down on the stern to 105 feet with little to see. Instead we landed by the  large mid-ship crane and met our friend Big Billy, the largest barracuda any of us had ever seen in our lives! I had to pause for a Big Billy selfie until we meet again! We also saw numerous Caribbean reef sharks circling around the crane. Seas 2-3', depth 86' viz 40', water temp 84.

Dive 2: Ball 6 - by far the best ball, this one provided access to the numerous shallow swim throughs around the 65 foot level. There were many rooms to explore including one with dual sinks where you could imagine service members washing up to get ready for another day at sea. All in all, in spite of the erroneous forecast in our favor, it was a wonderful day of diving for all who attended. Seas 2-3', depth 84' viz 40', water temp 84.

By Popular Demand: Second Sea Turtle Dive Added on June 22

We are approaching the height of sea turtle nesting season in South Florida which peaks from mid-June to mid-July. So due to popular demand we have added a second sea turtle dive on Saturday morning, June 22 so that as many of our members as possible can observe these magnificent creatures. The female loggerheads can be found resting on the top of the incredible ledges of Boynton Beach in about 55 feet of water, getting ready to emerge onto the beaches under cover of darkness to nest and lay their eggs in the sand. This week between 4 and 7 loggerheads were spotted each boat trip. So it's on! Grab your space before this dive sells out. This is an advanced dive with depths 55-75' so advanced qualification is required and Nitrox is strongly recommended. Contact Rachel at 786-316-9852 to reserve your space today!

This Saturday June 8! Dive Against Debris & Picnic at the Bridge FREE - Plenty of Spots Left

Be part of the world’s largest underwater community science movement by joining us for Dive Against Debris, a program from the PADI AWARE Foundation. Your participation will help the organization create a blueprint to achieve their critical conservation goal to reduce marine debris by 50% in targeted countries by 2030. Our Dive Against Debris will take place at the Blue Heron Bridge in which you will learn tips for debris collection and collect debris at the Bridge dive site. After the dive all participants will bring their debris to our pavilion where it will be weighed, surveyed and discarded. Our marine debris survey will be added to PADI’s database of over 2.3 million pieces of marine debris already removed from the ocean, contributing to their critical scientific research that advances the PADI Blueprint for Ocean Action.

Participation in this fun event is free of charge and will be followed by a BBQ. There will be prizes awarded for largest item, heaviest item, most unusual item and more. All you need to participate is your gear, air tank, and a mesh bag to collect debris.
