Reef Report

Saturday, June 15
Boynton Beach with Loggerhead Charters

Dive 1 – Boynton Ledges:  Seas 2', Depth 63, Water temp 84, mild current, visibility 40'. A beautiful dive with warm, clear water. Sightings included two large loggerheads, large free-swimming nurse shark, schooling midnight parrotfish, school of huge barracuda, lobsters everywhere, scorpionfish, trunkfish, large green moray eel.

Dive 2 – Tumbled Rocks: Seas 2', Depth 63, Water temp 84, mild current, visibility 40'. This dive featured perhaps the largest, longest biomass of fish I've ever seen that seemed to stretch a for a half mile over the top of the reef. We drifted alongside it observing it for what seemed like an eternity. There was another turtle and another large green moray eel posing for us. We were fortunate to be dropped in ahead of the crowds so we got 60 minutes of bottom time on each dive. Spectacular!

TRAFFIC ALERT

22 miles of Turnpike construction is underway in south Miami-Dade County. Expect slow downs, delays, hazardous driving conditions, and plan accordingly when traveling to our dives in the Florida Keys. This project is anticipated to last for several months. Friendly reminder - for the safety of all concerned, our rules require all divers to be present for the entire pre-dive briefing. Failure to do so could result in being excluded from the Active Divers group for that dive. Please plan ahead and allow plenty of travel time so you're not the diver showing up late.
