Islamorada with Key Dives
Weather: Sunny and clear. Air
temperature: 89 degrees. Water
temperature: 83 degrees, Seas: Less
than 2 feet,
Dive
1: Ancient Mariner - so
named because there are unidentified
remains of a sunken ship scattered about,
mostly spars. Maximum
Depth: 28 feet. Current:
none. Sights: lobster, nurse shark
snapper, chub, grunts, queen angelfish,
various tropicals.
Dive 2: The
Maze - Horseshoe-shaped reef
structure with the 150-foot wide mouth
opening approximately 300 degrees to the
West. Current: none. Maximum Depth:
28 feet. Sights: Southern stingray,
many lobster, schooling snapper, porcupine
fish, grunts, blue tang, various tropical
fish.

Sunday, June 24th
Bibb Wreck with Florida Keys Dive
Center
Dive
1: USCGC Bibb .The
original dive was set for the Duane but on
arrival all the down lines were taken by
fishing vessels. After discussing the
alternatives the group (7 divers) decided
to dive the Bibb Wreck, which was less
than 3 minutes away. What a great
alternative dive location. Seas
<1', depth 105', vis 60', slight
current, water temp 84 degrees. Sightings
include Bull Shark, Spotted Eagle Ray,
Giant Goliath Grouper, Large Barracudas,
and plenty of reef type fish.
Dive 2: Pickles
Reef. Seas <1', depth 25', vis 40',
slight current, water temp 84 degrees.
Sightings include Spotted Trunk Fish,
Large School of Tarpon, Large Blue
Parrotfish, Gag Groupers, Yellow Tails,
Hogfish, various types of Angelfish,
Butterflyfish, are just some of the
creatures spotted. Just an amazing
dive day.
