Benwood
Wreck with Horizon Divers &
Amoray Dive Center
Dive
1-
Benwood Wreck. Depth 46 ft. at
the bow, viz 30 ft, water temp 86
degrees, and some current. The group
set off on Horizon Diver's Cheeca
View to the site of the Benwood, a
natural wreck off of Key Largo.
Always a great site, divers were
treated to shoals of snappers,
grunts, pork fish and others
clustered around various areas of
the wreckage.

2-
French Reef Sand Bottom
Caves. Depth 21 ft, viz 30 ft,
water temp 86 degrees, no current. A
maze of beautiful coral head
formations with overhangs, crevices
and caves, some large enough to swim
through. Surprises were found around
each turn and the group was quickly
entranced with the fluid movements
of spotted eagle rays and a juvenile
reef shark patrolling the area

Benwood
Wreck Night Dive with Amoray
Single tank night
dive on the Benwood wreck with
Amoray Dive Center on the Amoray
Diver. Seas 1 ft,
depth 30-45 feet, vis 40- 50 feet,
water 84 degrees, wind 5-8 knots,
slight current on bottom stronger at
the surface. The Benwood lies in
the sand with the bow being the
deepest point. Built as a
merchant marine ship, she sank in
1942 after a collision with
another ship. The wreck site
provides structure for marine life
like soft coral, algae and attracts
various species of fish and sea
turtles. Sightings included
numerous green turtles (at least 8),
sleeping parrotfish, coral crab,
channel clinging crab, arrow crab
and a barracuda.

FULL
doesn't always mean full. When
our dives fill up the original
number of spaces booked, we can
always ask for more space from the
dive shop. And when the boats are at
capacity you can always ask to be
put on the waitlist. We always have
cancellations, so many of our
members on the waitlist get on the
dive, sometimes the night before or
the morning of the dive. So don't
miss out. If you're favorite dive
says full, just ask to be put on the
waitlist by contacting Rachel at
786-316-9852 or simply reply to this
email. Waitlisted spots are filled
on a first come first served basis
so do it soon! See you on the boat!
