Reef
Report
Saturday, July 13th
Tavernier
with Conch Republic Divers
ADA Divers were treated to a
wet start as weather rolled
over as the group was waiting
to embark on their
dives. For those that
decided to brave the
conditions and head out, we
were treated to a complete
reversal as the rains stopped
and although overcast gave way
to nice day of
diving.
Dive
1: Snapper Ledge
Wind 10-kts, Seas 1-2', Depth
50’, water temp 87F, vis 25’,
Current slight to none. A calm
dive along the reef spotting
large schools of snapper,
hence the name Snapper Ledge.
Along with the many snappers
some in the group
encountered a turtle, a nurse
shark, and your regular host
of reef inhabitants.
Dive
2: Horseshoe Reef
Wind 10-kts, Seas 1-2', Depth
41’, water temp 87F, vis 25’,
Current slight to none.
Similar to the first dive, the
boat was moored to the reef
and divers traversed the reef
along the ledge shaped like a
horseshoe. Spottings included
Nurse Sharks, Trumpet Fish,
crabs, parrot fish, and many
other reef dwelling
fish.
