Eagle Wreck with Conch
Republic Divers in Tavernier Saturday, July 22
Four Active Divers ventured out
with Conch Republic
Divers from Tavernier for a
double-dip on the wreck of the
Eagle.
Dive #1 Eagle-
Seas 1-2 feet, depth 110 max, vis 50
feet, water 83 - 91 degrees, some
surface current with a mild current on
the wreck. The first of two dives on
the Eagle wreck, divers descended down
the buoy line to the bow of the Eagle
which sits on its side at a depth of
110ft. Swimming along the wreck they
were greeted by schools of horse-eye
jacks and snapper before running into
three goliath groupers roaming the
stern of the ship. After a safe ascent
to the surface the group had a 45
minute surface interval before getting
ready for round two.
Dive #2 Eagle-
Seas 1-2 feet, depth 110 max, vis 50
feet, water 83 - 91 degrees, some
surface current with a mild current on
the wreck. Knowing where the
goliaths were hanging out, the divers
went straight for the stern of the
ship on this second dive. As expected,
the goliath groupers were there to
greet them along with a new friend, a
bull shark, who lurked off in the
shadows. The divers continued to roam
the ship spending some time along
the sections where the ship had split
in two before returning to the
surface.
