Vandenburg Wreck - Key West with Lost Reef
Adventures
Dive 1:
Vandenburg Wreck Ball #2 - seas 2',
depth 95', vis 60', water temp 83 degrees, moderate
current. Sightings include yellowtails, schooling
horseeye jacks, large barracuda. In September 2017
Hurricane Irma turned the Vandenburg 30 degrees,
sank her an extra 10 feet into the sand, ripped off
the original #2 ball and obliterated the satellite
dishes. But it's still a wonderful dive!
Dive 2: Vandenburg Wreck Ball #2 - seas
1', depth 102; vis 60; water temp 83
degrees, strong current. The current picked up
significantly on this dive, yet a few active divers
managed to make it to the bow and back. Viz was
still excellent. Significant thermocline -
experienced a 4 degree difference from 87 at the
surface to 83 down on the wreck.
