North Tavernier with Capt. Slates
Dive
1: Pleasure Reef - seas 2', depth
25', vis 40', water temp 86, degrees, slight
current. Sightings include nurse sharks, moray
eels, schooling snapper, grunt, yellow tails,
goat fish, neon gobies cleaning a moray eel,
trumpet fish, angels, princess parrots.
Dive 2: Spanky's Reef - seas
2', depth 25', vis 40', water temp 86 degrees,
slight current. Sightings include many 5-9 feet
nurse sharks inquiring, looking for hand-outs,
(this site is where Capt. Slate hand feeds
sharks and eels during his weekly Creature Feature
dive) moray eels, including one baby about 2
feet in length, rock beauties, angels, coral
clinging crab, many schooling species including
Bermuda chubs.
Post dive: Rachel
again, as chef of the day, served up monster
burgers, dogs and all the fixins. In addition,
Lee and Rosey hosted the feed at their stunning
water front home over looking Florida Bay.
