Luck Wreck with South Florida

Dive
1: Lady Luck. Seas
1 feet, depth 125 feet, vis
60 feet, water 88 degrees,
moderate to heavy current.
Fortune was smiling on us as
eight lucky divers descended on
the wreck of the Lady
Luck—a dive site known
for being hit or miss depending
on the conditions. But this
time, it was a total win!
The Lady
Luck, which was
intentionally sunk in 2016,
rests at 126 feet below the
surface off Pompano Beach,
boasting a playground of quirky
sculptures. Imagine an octopus
dealing cards, giant dice
scattered around, and a new
addition—a classic, old-school
diver statue guarding the deck.
Though the currents ranged from
moderate to strong at different
depths, we found plenty of
shelter amidst the wreck's nooks
and crannies. And the marine
life did not disappoint! We were
treated to thrilling encounters
with massive barracudas
patrolling the area, and a
mesmerizing school of spadefish
gliding gracefully by. It was a
dive to remember!
Dive
2: Sunkist
Reef. Seas
1 feet, depth 60 feet, vis
60 feet, water 88 degrees,
slight current. After
battling the currents at
the Lady
Luck, a relaxing drift
dive was just what we needed.
Splitting into two flag groups,
our team of eight divers set off
for a laid-back journey across
the vibrant reef. The water
seemed alive as we drifted
effortlessly, surrounded by an
incredible array of marine life.
Playful porkfish darted in and
out of view, schools of grunts
swirled around us, while
lobsters peeked out from their
rocky hideouts. Colorful damsel
fish fluttered past, along with
an endless parade of underwater
wonders. It was the perfect way
to unwind after the wreck dive!
