Captains and 2 Crew Members.
1st Dive: City of Washington
Wreck - The seas were less than 1-foot waves in
height and the day was sunny with the water
temperature being a warm 85’ degrees. Upon
descending the wreck was located between the two
mooring balls where the two vessels were attached,
the visibility was approximately 45 to 50 feet.
No current could be detected at the surface or
at depth. The 18 divers followed the crew’s
instructions on how to locate and dive the wreck.
Sightings observed by the divers included, Snappers,
Groupers, Turtles, Nurse Sharks, Green Moray Eels,
Lobsters, Large Parrot Fish and an abundance
beautiful reef fish. Many of our divers had
never been on the City of Washington Wreck, and
others had a not been on the sight for some time.
The divers agreed that the sight is an amazing
attraction.
2nd Dive – Mikes Wreck: For
dive #2, the travel to a second area was a very
short distance allowing the divers just enough time
to change cylinders. The wreck was surrounded by
several reefs. Many reef fish were observed as in
the first dive, along with extremely large Mutton,
and Gray Snappers. Divers also enjoyably
experiencing Mikes Wreck, subsequently locating a
miniature cannon situated in the sand areas near the
wreck. The cannon had been covered by the sand for
many years, but recently storms unveiled its
location for divers to enjoy the uncovering. The
second dive’s visibility and water temperature were
the same as the first. The second wreck dive was
equally enjoyable as the first. Upon surfacing the
diver’s discussion quickly focused on the
possibility off returning routinely to these dive
locations.
The boat captain and crew put great effort in
ensuring that every diver met their needs and were
briefed at the sights to maximize their dive
experience. The crew accomplished their goals, the
dive sights were picturesque and enjoyed by
all.
"Big Thanks" to the Island Adventures crew, in their
efforts to make the day enjoyable. They were a part
of why the afternoon trip was an all-around
success.
