WOW! Our Dive Cruise Produces a Whale Shark Encounter!

During the 2019 Active Divers "Dive Cruise" we had a whale shark encounter on a scuba diving excursion from the Sky Princess at Anthony's Key Resort. After a morning dive the dive boat was alerted to a whale shark just north of their location and they quickly responded and took us to where the whale shark had been spotted. After a few attempts the boat caught up to the whale shark and the divers (now snorkeling!) jumped in to catch a view of the big fish! The dive master (John) grabbed Susan Noll's camera and took this amazing video.

Sky Princess Dive Cruise
December 7-14, 2019

Grand Cayman

Dive 1: Trinity Caves: Depth  53 for 43 minutes. Visibility was. 80 feet., Among the various tropicals, we saw a  turtle and a green moray eel.
Dive 2: Pete’s Reef: Depth  43 for 60 minutes. Visibility was again 80 feet. Critters viewed similar to first dive.

Costa Maya, Mexico

Dive 1: Bikini Bottoms: Soft corals, lobster, overweight nurse shark, many turtles. Visibility once again, excellent at 80+ feet.
Dive 2: Dos Ojos: shallower, but a continuation of dive one highlights.
 
Roatan, Honduras

Dive 1: Deep Eel Garden 70 feet for 50 minutes. Prior to the dive, the divemasters chummed the water, feeding grouper. The water boiled with the grouper feeding frenzy. Later, they feed a large green moray to the delight of the divers.
Between dives, we chased a whale shark. See above!
Dive 2: Four sponges 60 feet 45 minutes. Large stands of elkhorn coral. Many grouper.

CREDITS FOR DIVES CANCELLED DUE TO WEATHER

Members who paid for recent dives cancelled due to inclement weather will be offered a credit for a future dive in 2019. If the dive credit is not used, the money will be refunded at the end of the season. Call Lon 305-251-4975 to transfer credits.
