President’s
Message
Season's Greetings Active Divers!
I hope that you are enjoying this
special time of year and
spending quality time with loved
ones. It is a great honor and
privilege to step into the role of
President of Active Divers
Association. I would like to recognize
the contributions of Lon Von Lintel
and Lee Wood who started the dive
club 52 years ago back in 1970 and
have been working hard to keep it
going strong to the present day.
The dive club was started primarily to
implement safety standards among
members and to encourage safe
diving practices. Our commitment to
safety continues today by assigning
a trained Safety Officer to brief
and lead each dive, ensuring everyone
has a buddy and fostering a
sense of camaraderie among our
divers. I have seen many friendships
and relationships develop through the
club in this spirit of building a
diving community of lifelong friends.
You have my sincere commitment that
I will do everything I can to
keep improving Active Divers moving
forward and shepherd it down to
the next generation so that we
celebrate our 100th anniversary in
2070!
Looking back, we had a very successful
dive season this year including great
international trips like
Little Cayman, Cozumel and the
annual dive cruise. And locally we had
some great adventures such as
fossil hunting on the West Coast,
shark diving in Jupiter, many relaxing
shallow dives, and great wrecks
such as the Spiegel Grove and
Vandenburg. We have much more in store
for 2023 so if you have
any comments, suggestions or
feedback please contact me at
786-316-9852 or simply reply to this
message. We would love to hear
your ideas about what we can do better
to give you the best dive club
experience possible. Look forward
to seeing you above and under the
water in 2023!

Calling
All Divemasters and
Instructors - We Need You!
Active Divers Association is
actively recruiting for Safety
Officers in 2023! Safety Officers
are at the core of
our mission to promote scuba
diving in a safe environment. This
is your opportunity to give back
and make
a higher-level contribution to the
dive club. Also - Safety Officers
dive for free on dives they lead. This
opportunity is open to anyone
holding a Divemaster or higher
certification from a recognized
scuba training
agency. We will have an
orientation and training session
in early 2023, then candidates
will
practice their dive briefing
and leadership skills alongside a
Safety Officer during a period of apprenticeship
before being nominated to the
Safety Officer Committee. If you
are interested in this fun and
rewarding leadership role, please
contact Rachel Davis at
786-316-9852 or simply reply to
this
email. We look forward to
having you join our ranks! |
